MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND QUALITY CONTROL

Ours is an online quality control system and hence the quality check begins along with production. The moment any raw material enters the factory, it is put to various tests. The sheets are checked for their correctness in thickness, width, hardness and finish. Once it passes, the material is either stored or taken for production.

The sheets are cut to required sizes and converted to drums after welding and seaming. The various tests the drums undergo are listed as given below:

HANDLE PULL TEST

Handles that are fixed on the top of the drums are checked for their strength by exerting a heavy pressure on them with the specialized machine developed for that purpose. The pressure exerted is 30 Kg upto 10 Litre drum and 70 Kg for drums of capacity greater than 10 litres as per ISI Standards.

LEAK TEST

The drums are filled with air and tested for leakage by applying soap water. Moreover, a pressure gauge fitted on the machine gives the correct pressure inside the drum and if there is any leakage, it can by detected by a sudden drop in the pressure as shown in the pressure gauge and bubbles form at the point of leakage. The internal air pressure is 0.4 Kg/Sq.cm. If at all any leakage is detected, such drums are entirely scrapped. ALL drums are tested for leakage.

DROP TEST

One drum in every lot is filled full to the capacity with water and dropped from a height of seven feet to check its strength. The drums are dropped in such a position so that the welding joint hits the floor. Later the drum is emptied and tested for leakage. Our drums show no sign of leakage.

EPOXY and PAINT COATING TEST

The coated epoxy is tested for its thickness, adhesion and strength as per ISI standards and the drums that pass testing alone are dispatched to the customers

The drums with the minutest quality defects are scrapped immediately on the spot.
